FreightHub Logistics shipped a single crate of custom-made designer furniture from Germany to Ashgabat. The furniture weighed 620 kg and could not be stacked, tilted or reoriented. The client wanted delivery within an agreed timeframe with as little handling as possible.
A large crate with strict handling limits
The crate measured 240 × 160 × 190 cm, with an approximate volume of 7.3 m³ and an approximate chargeable weight of 1,220 kg, rather than the 620 kg actual weight.
The furniture was sensitive to mechanical damage. Its reinforced wooden crate included internal fixings to prevent movement and shock-absorbing elements to protect it during handling and transport. The packing was prepared to meet airline and ground-handling requirements, with Fragile, This Side Up and Non-stackable markings.
Friday collection for a Monday departure
A dedicated truck collected the crate from the manufacturer in Berlin on Friday and took it to Frankfurt Airport. The shipment was handed over to the airline that evening and placed in secured storage. FreightHub Logistics reports that it underwent no handling operations over the weekend.
On Monday, the crate was loaded for a direct Turkmenistan Airlines flight to Ashgabat International Airport. Choosing a direct flight removed intermediate airport transfers from this itinerary.
Documents prepared before handover
The shipment documentation included an air waybill, commercial invoice, packing list and export clearance documents. The documents were checked and coordinated before shipment to support handover to the airline and departure.
The reported result
FreightHub Logistics reports completion within the agreed timeframe, with the non-stacking and orientation requirements observed. The furniture arrived intact and ready for installation.
Preparing a similar enquiry
For a furniture shipment, provide the packed dimensions and actual weight, photographs of the crate and its internal supports, and any restrictions on stacking or orientation. Include the collection address, destination handover point and required arrival date. A new enquiry needs its own packing, routing and acceptance review.
