Medical devices and equipment: surgical and diagnostic equipment, hospital technology and replacement components may need particular packaging and handling. Include dimensions, gross weight, value and the manufacturer's transport instructions where relevant.
Healthcare & medical logistics
The product's transport requirements should lead the freight plan. A diagnostic device, packaged clinical supplies and temperature-sensitive cargo need different handling information, documentation and routing decisions before collection is arranged.
FreightHub supports healthcare and medical freight forwarding through our Netherlands, Germany and China offices. We assess suitable devices, equipment, supplies and pharmaceutical cargo according to the product, route and conditions the shipment needs.
Start with the product, not only the delivery date
Healthcare supplies: describe the packaged goods and the receiving warehouse, distributor or other agreed destination. Storage and delivery requirements should be included in the brief, rather than inferred from the product category.
Pharmaceutical and temperature-sensitive cargo: provide the product requirements before a route is proposed. Suitable laboratory reagents and healthcare-related chemicals also need classification and acceptance review.
Temperature requirements must cover the whole movement
Temperature-controlled logistics is available through all three offices for suitable cargo. The required conditions, packaging, monitoring and route must be confirmed for the individual shipment before booking.
Describe the required range and any acceptable excursion limits supplied by the product owner. Include packaging and conditioning instructions, any monitoring or data-recording requirement, and storage or transfer conditions at origin, transit points and destination. Those requirements need to be matched to an operationally suitable solution; they are not established by selecting a transport mode alone.
Choose transport and handling together
Air freight can suit urgent or time-sensitive shipments. Ocean freight may suit planned, larger or heavier cargo when the product requirements and delivery schedule permit. Road freight supports suitable regional and cross-border collection and delivery. Air, ocean and road freight are available through all three offices.
Warehousing suitability depends on the product and local facility requirements. High-value and oversized/overweight cargo capability is limited in Germany. Regulated healthcare cargo requires classification and carrier acceptance; Germany's dangerous-goods restrictions include radioactive cargo and Class 1.
A product-led planning process
1. Review the product, destination, required delivery date and known handling or temperature instructions.
2. Compare transport options against those conditions, including the collection, transfer and final delivery stages.
3. Review commercial and transport documentation and identify certificates, permits or product approvals to be supplied by the responsible party.
4. Agree collection, handling and any storage or temperature-control arrangements before movement.
5. Coordinate international transport with updates at agreed milestones and delivery to the agreed consignee.
Frequently asked questions
- Can you assess temperature-sensitive healthcare cargo?
Yes. Start with the product's required conditions, packaging and monitoring needs. The team must confirm that the proposed route and handling arrangements can support them before booking.
- Does medical equipment always require temperature-controlled transport?
The transport brief should follow the product's instructions. Describe the specific handling requirements rather than assuming all medical devices need the same conditions.
Prepare your healthcare enquiry
Provide the product description, quantities, dimensions, gross weight, value, origin, destination and dates. Add packaging and handling instructions, required temperature conditions and monitoring needs where applicable, and any known dangerous-goods classification or product documentation requirements.
