FreightHub Logistics shipped 16 Euro pallets of auto parts and showroom furniture from a Berlin warehouse to Las Palmas via Hamburg. The consignment travelled as less-than-container-load freight, sharing container space with other shipments rather than occupying a dedicated container.
The shipment formed part of FreightHub Logistics’ supply programme for automotive dealerships on Spanish islands. Parts were needed for service operations and furniture for showrooms. The practical choice was how to move this particular volume without paying for unused container capacity.
Choosing shared container space through Hamburg
For the Las Palmas shipment, FreightHub Logistics selected LCL consolidation through Hamburg. Direct sea transport between Hamburg and Las Palmas was the Canary Islands route used in this supply programme.
Sharing space meant the client paid for the volume used rather than a full container. FreightHub Logistics reports a lower freight cost per unit but does not give a percentage saving.
The Mallorca route in the wider supply programme
FreightHub Logistics’ wider supply programme also used a road-and-ferry route from Germany through Barcelona or Valencia to Palma de Mallorca. In that programme, full truckload or consolidated road freight was selected according to volume and urgency.
The Mallorca route was part of the wider island supply programme. The 16-pallet shipment described here travelled from Berlin through Hamburg to Las Palmas.
Preparing the island delivery
FreightHub Logistics arranged collection from the German warehouse, island delivery and documentation. Preparation for the Canary Islands route included evidence of the goods' customs status.
For a similar enquiry, the goods' origin and customs status should be established alongside the physical transport plan.
The reported result
FreightHub Logistics reports delivery of the 16 pallets and lower unused-capacity charges through LCL consolidation. No transit time is given for this shipment.
Discuss an island shipment
Provide the collection address, destination island and delivery address, pallet dimensions and weights, and whether the cargo can be stacked. Include the required arrival date and information about the goods' origin and customs status. These details allow the transport options and documentation needs to be assessed for the actual consignment.
